The Atlas exclusive REMOVABLE center post adapter system allows the operator to properly position the wheel on the tire changer. Other center post tire changers have a permanent fixed metal center post that requires the operator to lift the wheel over the post to mount the wheel. The Atlas removable CPA system (with a floating lug hole positioning pin) allows the operator to slide the wheel into the correct position and lower the wheel onto the protective center post pad with no fear of wheel damage.
The spring actuated lug hole positioning pin is covered with a durable nylon cap to prevent damage to the wheel. The pin is placed through one of the lug bolt holes to prevent the wheel from rotating.
The center post (with the Atlas "Quick-Nut" system) is locked into place (using one of the nylon center cones) AFTER the wheel is properly positioned on the shaft, minimizing any chance for the wheel to be damaged.
